What UbyPort is
UbyPort is the system the Czech Foreign Police (Cizinecká policie) provide for accommodation providers — hotels, guesthouses, apartments, and short-term rentals — to fulfill their legal duty to report foreign guests. Every foreign guest, meaning anyone who is not a Czech citizen (EU citizens included), must be reported within 3 working days after their arrival (§ 102(1) of Act No. 326/1999 Coll.). Providers who run accommodation as a business must report through UbyPort, which requires registering the facility first (§ 102(3)); hosts who don’t may instead submit a registration form signed by the guest to the Foreign Police (§ 102(2)).
What information is reported
A UbyPort report includes the guest’s full name, date of birth, nationality, permanent address abroad, travel document number and visa number (if any), the start and place of the stay, and its expected length and purpose (§ 97). The exact required fields and submission format are set by the Foreign Police and can change, which is why systems that report to UbyPort need to stay current with the official schema.
Why it matters
Failing to report a foreign guest, or reporting incomplete or incorrect data, is a legal violation that can result in a fine of up to 50,000 CZK. Because the obligation applies to every foreign guest and the deadline is short, providers hosting even a moderate volume of foreign guests benefit from automating the check-in-to-UbyPort pipeline rather than filing each report by hand.
