Collecting the accommodation tax is a small amount of money that causes a disproportionate amount of hassle: guests arrive without cash, nobody has the right change, and foreign guests’ banking apps don’t read Czech QR payment codes. Add your Revolut link to Best Guest, and the payment request your guest receives gets a Revolut button with the exact amount already filled in. The guest taps it and pays by card. They don’t need a Revolut account and there’s nothing to retype. The money goes straight to you.
Estimated setup time: 2 minutes.
Why Revolut
- Anyone with a card can pay. The link opens Revolut’s own payment page, where guests can pay by card or Apple Pay with no Revolut account and no app to install. Guests who do use Revolut pay from their balance in two taps.
- The amount is already filled in. Best Guest calculates the tax from the number of nights, guests and exemptions, and puts the result straight into the link. Guests have nothing to work out and nothing to type wrong.
- You’re paid in Czech crowns. For a Czech property, the Revolut link always asks for the statutory amount in CZK, even when a foreign guest’s request shows the amount in euros. The guest’s card or Revolut account does the conversion, and you receive exactly what you owe the municipality.
- There’s nothing to sign up for. No card terminal, no merchant contract, no payment gateway. All you need is the revolut.me link you already have in the Revolut app.
- The money goes directly to you. Best Guest never handles the payment and adds no fee on top.
Before you start
- A Revolut account with a revolut.me link. You’ll find it in the Revolut app under your profile, next to your Revtag (for example
revolut.me/yourname). - Revtag discoverability turned on. Revolut only lets people without a Revolut account pay your link while your Revtag is discoverable. In the Revolut app, open your profile, go to Privacy → Make me discoverable and make sure the Revtag toggle is on.
- Accommodation-tax collection switched on in Best Guest, with your bank account filled in. Revolut is an extra way to pay, offered next to the QR code, so it needs the payment request to exist in the first place. See Accommodation Tax by QR Code for how that works.
Setup
- In Best Guest, go to Account → Companies and open your company.
- Under Your payment details, paste your link into the Revolut field, for example
revolut.me/yourname. Best Guest checks the format right away and won’t save a link it can’t turn into a payment link. - Save.
- Make sure Send QR payment request to guest when approved & locked is turned on for each accommodation where you want to collect the tax.
That’s it. From now on, every payment request for the accommodation tax includes a Revolut button. You can also add the link while you’re setting up your account, during onboarding.
What the guest sees
When you approve and lock a reservation, Best Guest e-mails the main guest the amount due, how it was calculated, a QR code for a bank transfer, and a Revolut link, plus PayPal and Wise if you’ve added those too. The same payment card appears on the guest’s reservation page in Best Guest, so they can pay later.
The guest taps Revolut, and Revolut’s payment page opens with the amount and currency already filled in. They pay by card, Apple Pay, or from their Revolut balance. Then they tap I’ve paid on their reservation page and choose Revolut, so you know which account to check.
What you see
- An e-mail when the guest says they’ve paid, and a note on the reservation that the guest reported paying via Revolut. That’s the guest’s statement, not a confirmation: Best Guest doesn’t connect to your Revolut account and can’t see the payment itself.
- Confirmation in one step. Once the money is in your Revolut app, click Mark as paid on the reservation and confirm the amount and date. Best Guest issues a receipt and e-mails it to the guest.
- Optionally, hold back the check-in instructions until you’ve confirmed. With Release the instructions only after you confirm the local fee payment turned on for the accommodation, the guest gets the check-in instructions and door code only after you confirm the payment. The guest’s own “I’ve paid” doesn’t unlock anything.
Changing the link for a single reservation
On a reservation whose payment request has already been sent, you can change where that one guest’s money goes: the bank account and the Revolut, PayPal or Wise links. This is useful when one property is paid into a different account. E-mails that have already gone out keep the details they were sent with, so resend the payment request after the change. Once the payment has been reported or confirmed, the details are locked. Only owners and managers can make this change.
Revolut’s limits worth knowing
- Card payments from people without Revolut are capped by Revolut. Revolut’s help centre says payment links typically accept up to £250 a week in card payments from non-Revolut customers (or the equivalent in other currencies). The limit varies by account and can’t be raised. To see your exact limit in the Revolut app, go to Payments → + → Link → Request money and tap the info icon. Once you reach it, Revolut asks the guest to create an account instead of paying by card. Most stays only owe a few hundred crowns, so a smaller host rarely gets near the limit, and the QR code for a bank transfer is always offered alongside it.
- Payments from other Revolut users don’t count towards that card limit.
- Revolut’s own terms and pricing apply to money you receive. Check your plan in the Revolut app.
What doesn’t change
Revolut only makes it easier to collect the tax from the guest. You still report and remit the accommodation tax to the municipality yourself, exactly as before, and you owe the statutory amount for the property, whatever currency the guest paid in.
Troubleshooting
The guest’s e-mail has no Revolut button. Check that the link is saved on your company under Your payment details, and that collecting the tax is turned on for the accommodation. A payment request sent before you added the link keeps the details it was sent with: add the link on the reservation itself and resend the request.
The guest says Revolut is asking them to sign up. Either your Revtag isn’t discoverable (see Before you start), or you’ve reached Revolut’s weekly limit for card payments. In the meantime, the guest can pay by bank transfer using the QR code.
The guest paid but the reservation shows the tax as unpaid. The guest’s “I’ve paid” is a report, not a confirmation. Check your Revolut app and click Mark as paid on the reservation.

Frequently asked questions
Does the guest need a Revolut account to pay?
No. The Revolut link opens Revolut's own payment page, where anyone can pay by card or Apple Pay. Guests who do have Revolut can pay from their Revolut balance instead. Revolut doesn't accept Google Pay on these links.
Will I receive the exact amount I owe the municipality?
Yes. For a Czech property the Revolut link always asks for the statutory amount in Czech crowns, even when a foreign guest's payment request shows the amount in euros. The guest's card or Revolut account handles any currency conversion on their side, so no exchange-rate difference lands on you.
Does Best Guest take a cut?
No. The money goes straight from the guest to your Revolut account, and Best Guest never handles it. Only Revolut's own terms and pricing apply to the money you receive.
Can I offer Revolut instead of a bank transfer?
Revolut is offered alongside the bank transfer, not instead of it. The QR code needs your bank account, so every payment request includes the QR code and account details, plus Revolut and any other links you've added. The guest picks whichever suits them.
Does Best Guest confirm the Revolut payment automatically?
No. Best Guest doesn't connect to your Revolut account, so it can't see the payment itself. The guest taps "I've paid" and picks Revolut, you get an e-mail, and you confirm the payment on the reservation once you see it in your Revolut app.
